Who takes Private Group Charters or Custom Adventures with Hawaii Forest & Trail? Our clients range from families with special needs or interests; Fortune 500 executives, foreign dignitaries, media executives and entertainment celebrities; guests wanting strenuous hikes or who have specific natural history interests; to small group parties who want privacy and exclusivity. Many of our repeat guests reserve private tours for themselves, family, and friends.

What is a Private Group Charter or Custom Adventure? A Private Group Charter Adventure is any of our Nature Adventures reserved for your group exclusively. These are our regular adventures on the normal timing and catering. Any requested deviation from the normal itinerary, timing, or catering requires a Custom Adventure. Custom Adventures are also exclusive for your group, but take into consideration your special needs, requests, and interests.

Custom Group Charter Rates:
Half Day: $950-$1250
Full Day: $1500-$1600
Prices are per van with up to 10 guests. Prices plus 4.166% tax.

Custom Adventure Possibilities: Combine the incredible diversity of the Big Island with Hawaii Forest & Trails unsurpassed private property and permit access and you’ll come up with the ultimate Hawaiian Adventure. Along with our regular adventure options we also have access to Lava Tubes for caving. Numerous locales for longer and more challenging hikes. Access onto tightly controlled family ranches gives you a glimpse of Hawaii most never see. We can also combine our adventures with a Blue Hawaiian Helicopter experience. Use us to take you on a multi-day journey around the island staying at lodging of your choice. Have us design an adventure especially for your kids or the less mobile in your group. How about a secluded waterfall hike followed by a romantic catered lunch for two or a BBQ dinner for the family?

Some Ideas:

Rainforest / Cave / Waterfall Adventure: This is our most popular private tour for families with children. This full day adventure incorporates a drive over the Saddle Road to the Puu Oo Trail, then a lava tube exploration at Kaumana Caves, followed by a scenic drive along the Hamakua Coast stopping for Waterfall viewing.

Lava Express: Make a direct expedition to see the red stuff. Make it either a daytime trip or leave late in the day for a sunset dinner near the flow and watch the flow light up the night.

Hualalai Volcano Backcountry: Explore some the most remote and private terrain on the island. Requires a premium access payment to landowner. Hike it, drive it, or fly in by copter.

Volcano by Land and Air: Fly with Blue Hawaiian from Waikoloa to view the lava, then have HFT pick you up at the Hilo airport and take you on an adventure to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.

Private Group Charters & Custom Tours require a deposit of 25% of total tour price. Deposit is forfeited on cancellations with less than 2 weeks notice. Cancellations with less than 48 hours notice of tour departure are charged 100% of tour price.
