I just came back from my vacation from the Big Island. Here, I took the Kilauea tour with Bob and the Kohala waterfall tour with Matt. Both were amazing experiences and both guides provided their own touch to make the learning exciting! I have never learned more about the flora, fauna and geology on any other tour I have taken. He had nothing but the enjoyment of his patrons in mind. They call it The Big Island for a reason, getting around can take several hours just to see one thing. Knowing I did not want to where myself out driving and risk missing half of the views I opted for a tour. This was a great decision. There is nothing better than letting someone else do the driving "all day" so you can take in the views, photograph, and get educated as well. If you can, you should request Matt, I have been on a ton of tours in my life and Matt is truly exceptional. He has abundant knowledge and his passion for the island and his work show all day long. This is a great day to spend if you want a taste of several parts of the island and not extensive time in any one spot. The price is well worth it.

Our family took a recent trip to the Big Island, HI. We hooked up with Hawaii Forest and Trail to do a 12 hour tour to the Volcano National Park after attempting to go down the Kona side of the island the day before and having the road closed due to a brush fire. Very disappointing! Best route to volcano is north and down the Hilo side if staying in Kona. My 20 year old son and I really greatly enjoyed the volcano adventure tour. Our guide, Derek, was professional and solicitous, a born teacher. Afterwards we realized how much information we’d absorbed about the island’s geology, history, ecosystems, etc., that it seemed we’d taken a college seminar. We liked the breakfast and lunch provided too -- well worth the cost!

We had the privilege of touring the volcano with Mark Frazer. This guy knew the answer to everything that was asked of him. He talked just the right amount along the way. He gave details on geology, biology, botany and even included an amazing summary of Hawaiian history that pulled everything together. He was professional, humble and friendly.
