Adventure: Rainforest and Dryforest Birding
Back in Minnesota and reflecting on our wonderful time in Hawaii. I was with Garry Dean's group July 1st to the Hakalua area for Akepa, elepaio, and the akiapolaau in Mauna Kea State Park and Hakalua. What a fantastic place and a fantastic guide. Garry did a great job teaching us all about the geology, history and botany of the area. Also was excellent at locating the target bird species; which was important to me. Thanks for a great time.
Just wanted to say what a great day I had birding with Gary and Jon. As a novice birder, I appreciated that it was a small group, and think I got more out of it since Jon was in training for this particular tour. A plus is that the other guests were experienced birders. Gary and Jon took special care to make sure that I saw everything, and I learned a lot about the island.
